Stroke Observation

Study the moment a line changes weight, direction or tension.

These exercises are deliberately small so the learner can see where a stroke begins to change.

Pressure onset

Compare downstrokes that reach similar maximum width but begin opening at different points. Mark the onset and decide which version creates the intended balance.

Release before a turn

Underturns are compared with early, controlled and late release. Learners test whether the heavy portion continues too far into the curve.

Hairline recovery

A repeated line becomes rougher after several attempts. The exercise separates hand tension, nib angle and ink loading before the learner changes materials.

Direction consistency

Short groups of curves are compared for slant and path. Learners mark where the movement drifts instead of judging only the final shape.
